A collection of motoring photography is being exhibited in Sorrento on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Named ‘High Velocity,’ every image in the collection is an original, and available for sale – with prices ranging from $250 to $4000.
The owner of these prized possessions, Philip Kulpa, has been collecting the photographs for 20 years, locating his first at a photo fair in Paris.
Among the collection are original photos of prestige brands such as Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, plus images of Formula One and endurance racing from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Some of the more sought after photos in the exhibition include James Hunt in a McLaren M23 chasing Niki Lauda in his championship-winning Ferrari 312, along with Bruce McLaren leading Denny Hulme in a pair of McLaren M8 Can-Am cars.
Various photographs from Erich Strenger are amidst the collection. Strenger is a celebrated artist in the motoring world, known for his creative contribution to the Porsche brand, particularly in the early 1950s and 1960s.
The exhibition is being held at Source Photographica on Ocean Beach Rd, Sorrento, Victoria until June 14. Enthusiasts not able to visit can make purchases online.
